The Rolling Stones: Super Bowl XL Halftime Show
February 6, 2006, ABC
The Rolling Stones ā one of the greatest rock nā roll bands in history - headlined the Super Bowl XL Halftime Show, thrilling the audience with their dynamic, energetic performance. The Stones performed on the largest stage ever assembled for a Super Bowl Halftime Show. 89.9 million people viewed the Halftime Show, more than the audiences for the Oscars, Grammys and Emmy Awards combined.
"The Stones did their job with rowdy ease..... Suiting a sports event, the performance was also a show of athletic prowess as Jagger, who is 62, ran up mileage as he swaggered and skipped across the stage and around a tongue shaped runway where he could high-five eager fans"
- The New York Times
"The Mischer team used 150 chain-hoist motors to lower 67 tons of lighting equipment strung on 2 miles of aircraft cable suspended from a grid above the stadium floor. The 5,300 square foot, tongue shaped stage rolls out in 58 separate pieces by a crew of 620 volunteers"
